The first ten images show an inferior mirage on a ship; the rest of the images (this page and the next page) is a collection of superior mirages distorting ships.
Both types of mirages distort islands and ships equally. And as it was with islands also with boats inferior mirage always looks the same while superior may show a great variety of shapes. Miraging boats are interesting to follow because their shape changes when the boat approaches or moves farther away.
One frequently seen mirage is the 'Flying Dutchman', where a dark silhouette of a distant ship and its superior mirage are slowly moving in horizon. See image 'Laiva4' below
